I think all of the middle of the country has that kind of weather---the saying was 'if you dont like the weather in (insert name of midwest city) wait 15 minutes!'
Times when its been 80 in the morning and 20 and snowing in the evening--yep thats our weather.

as I have been getting older cold weather has been affecting me more--arthritis is not a fan of cold it would rather it be warm.

so glad we live in a city (though they dont plow very well on our cul-de-sac)

Well we ended up getting over 7 inches of snow last night. So they cancelled school today. Tomorrow we are supposed to be at like -7 with it feeling like -20 or less tomorrow when students are supposed to get picked up by the bus. So that should be interesting as well.

Going to have to go out later today and shovel the cars out, but at least I got a real shovel now!

We got right at a foot of snow on top of the 3 inches from a few days ago. Drifts are knee deep, wrapping around our truck and most of the cars that parked out. "Official totals are taken at the airport. They set a single day record of 17.5 inches.

A Modot truck, big dump truck, made a single pass down our dead end road. He couldn't turn around, so he had to back up the length of the block. So only a single pass. Looking forward, not, to the -17 overnight.

I shoveled our walkway and porch, and went next door to the mother-in-law's and shoveled her walk and driveway. The lady next door to her was out shoveling, so I helped her dig her car out. She offered $20. I told her "You didn't ask, you don't pay." Made her day.

Our poor dogs. The snow was so deep for their small bodies, instead of going across the yard to "take care of business," they just stepped off the edge of the porch to do it.

Part of me wishes we had gotten that much snow. Oh well.

Single lane is better than no lane, but it would have been nice if he had given you two lanes. And ya, we are at -18 atm. Awesome. Still have school though so I guess the buses started and they aren't worried about the students standing outside in this bitter cold. Oh well.

I shoveled out everyone's car who was still in the parking lot yesterday. Took me 2 hours to do but oh well. Now when I come back from work today I should have a shoveled place to park instead of hoping that the other spots had been shoveled.

we actually had ours all shoveled out (when we got home last night)....however, since the temps plummeted...black ice was abundant...and well, yep, I did the classic banana peel slip on the ice (hubby thought it was quite funny)....and fell on my....assets
am quite sore today--good thing I had my massage today feel like I got run over by a truck.

and yeah...the snow storm a few years ago (february if memory serves), they didnt bother to even try to get down our cul-de-sac...we had the narrow tracks from someones suv (good thing I have an suv as well) ...so we all used that to get out of our little frozen nightmare....recently our village is pretty good about giving us at least one pass each way within 24 hours of major snows.

Ya lots of black ice this morning as well. I was hoping they would cancel school today due to the extreme cold but nope. Which means they won't cancel tomorrow either even though it is supposed to be just as cold.

Surprisingly not sore today. Which is good. Guess I'm getting used to shoveling. o.O

cosy-Hope you didn't hurt anything too bad. About a year ago, I took a spill on the ice. To this day, if I suddenly move my right arm, like react to catch a falling object, some pain shoots through the shoulder joint.

Average highs are normally in the low 40's by this time of year. Won't be getting out of the twenties until at least next Weds, and they are forecasting low 50's by next Fri. From the size of some of the snow piles here, they might still be here in May.

We are sitting at -6 and it feels like -18 today. Again, they aren't going to cancel even though a few weeks ago we cancelled because windchill was -15 or so. Don't know why they all of a sudden think it is okay for the students to stand outside and wait for the bus in this cold. But whatever.

glad I made your day malice.

and thanks Perkunas--am quite sore on my left side from my hips on down and since I caught myself with my left arm (which also had my overstuffed purse on it) my arm, wrist and shoulder are also feeling the 'love'.....massage helped a bit and my heating pad has been seeing an extra dose of usage as well.

and yeah, highs in the single digits with windchill advisories....and you guessed it---more snow for the weekend!! (though they do say we might have FOUR days in a roll withOUT snow next week !!!!)

Keep using that heating pad cosy. Hope you recover soon.

Ya we might get an inch of snow tomorrow. Which isn't bad considering the 8 we got on Wednesday.

I made a Mexican Lasagna tonight. Didn't look like the picture. My cheese was golden brown compared to their barely melted, yellow. The wife and I carried it over to her mom's and had dinner with her. She gave me the recipe to give it a try. Tasted very good.

Checked the thermometer on the way back home. +8 degrees. A few flurries expected overnight.

think we are supposed to be sub zero again.

my heating pad is getting plenty of attention--my neck and arm are feeling better, leg is still sore --since it took the brunt of the slip I can understand, and thanks pwnd.

had bison burgers for dinner--always tasty, even better had some of our xmas cheeses on top (yearly gift from family).

Monday is looking cold again. 9 and -13. Yikes. Otherwise it is supposed to stay above 0 degrees.

Have my 2 year old nephews birthday party today. Should be fun as I haven't seen my nephews in quite sometime.

Got both state and fed tax refunds back already. E-filed 1/28, both were "accepted" the 1st. State hit the bank the 6th and the fed today. Talk about fast.

The mother-in-law's furnace quit working overnight. She got up at 6:00 this morning freezing her buns off. Called me to see if I could figure it out. I couldn't, so she called a repairman. He was there in less than an hour. He couldn't find the problem in the easily accessible parts of the furnace. He would have to completely remove the unit and tear it done to find the problem, also saying it would take a week to get replacement parts. She decided to replace her 32 year old unit. He will be back Monday with the replacement. I hope he wasn't just trying to sell a new unit.

The trash collector finally made it by today. Just two days late. I drug my container out to the road when I saw him coming up the street. He asked if the roads were in about the same condition as yesterday. I told him, they are about the same as when the snow stopped. Apparently, the recycle collector said the roads were in good shape. If that was the case, this guy wonders why none of the recycle containers, in the neighborhood, were emptied.

Calling for upto another inch of snow tomorrow. This old man has had enough of Old Man Winter.

I 2nd that one Perkunas--from this old woman!!

taxes ...still just getting forms that were supposed to have been in the mail on the 31st of last month---then I will sit down and chew the numbers (yes, I do my own taxes)....

sorry to hear about the furnace--I usually have mine cleaned/checked in october-ish (about the same time I have them clean out the humidfier so it can work for its one day)...this one is only ~10 years old.

garbage...last time they decided to not pick ours up I moved it back inside (so the creatures of the night wouldnt rip it to shreads)...so if you have any of those where you live I can understand why peeps wouldnt leave their garbage or recyclables out for more than a day...the creatures around here will tear apart anything that even remotely smells of being near something food-ish. (that includes any item purchased from a grocery store).

we got another 1" or so...balcony looks like it did around xmas--was looking at the photos I took of that pile and comparing it.

We aren't supposed to get anymore snow, just cold temps. I'm ready for it to warm up so I can get back to running...

I need to do my taxes. I got my form a week ago. Wife might still be waiting on something, but I'm not sure.

Haven't had a furnace go out on me yet. Thank goodness. Would be a horrible time for it to happen with the bitter cold we have been getting.

The guy showed up at 9:00 this morning with the new furnace. Finished and was gone by 4:30 this afternoon. Mother-in-law now shedding her extra wraps.

Just a couple of more nights and days of well below normal temps, then it's up to the 40's for highs and mid 20's for lows. At least that is the forecast. Hope they have it right.

Took a drive past the old place today. Glad we didn't have to deal with the drifted driveway. Would have been over bumper deep most of the length. Would have taken me a couple of days to shovel the whole 350 ft.
